Greenville, South Carolina, September 4, 2018 – Softbox, a leading global innovator and provider of temperature control packaging for the life science and logistics industries, has launched a new Green Recycling Service across the USA and Canada to provide its customers with a hassle-free way to dispose of their temperature control packaging waste and improve their eco-sustainability performance.
The new Green Recycling Service for BioPharma, provided by Softbox, is an eco-friendly way of dealing with packaging waste, such as used pallets, EPS foam and corrugated components. Instead of disposing of these pharmaceutical packaging components along with the rest of their scrap destined for landfill, companies can now have these components recycled into materials that will be used to manufacture new products for other industries.
The collection of the packaging waste and delivery to the recycling center is a one-phone-call, one-fee service that is fully-managed by Softbox and delivered in partnership with a national partner which is a specialist in the manufacturing and recycling of packaging materials.
“Softbox is highly committed to supporting its customers and providing cold chain packaging solutions that reduce waste and their impact on the environment,” said John Hammes, General Manager of Softbox, US and Canada. “Our new Green Recycling Service allows us to go even further – by ensuring a sustainable alternative for ‘end of life’ temperature control packaging waste. Our US and Canadian customers can now significantly reduce their landfill impact and potentially reduce the cost they are paying today for non-sustainable waste. This program will not only benefit Softbox’s green priorities, it will also help our BioPharma customers achieve their own sustainability objectives, reporting, and scores.
“With our exciting partnership now in place and serving several of our clients, our customers just need to make one phone call to Softbox, and we will arrange the collection and recycling of all their temperature control packaging waste – taking the time and effort out of their green initiative for just one cost-effective all-inclusive fee.”

Softbox Systems is proud to announce that it has won a second Queen’s Award for Enterprise, this time in the category of Innovation to add to that won in 2011 for International Trade.
The award was granted for Softbox innovation in designing, developing and commercialising its range of Silverpod Air Cargo Temperature Control systems for shipping temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals. Softbox development of Silverpods represented a completely new way of looking at how best to optimise the use of cargo space within wide-bodied aircraft to reduce shipping costs and CO2 emissions whilst ensure maximum efficacy of pharmaceuticals – creating a completely new patented generation of shipping systems.
Mark Hammond, Softbox Systems Sales Director, comments; “Since their introduction in 2009, Silverpod’s have formed a key part of our solution offering and are now used by more than half the worlds top 50 pharmaceutical companies and their 3PL’s to transport temperature sensitive finished drugs. The Silverpod brand has become synonymous with providing a high performance cost effective alternative to using other passive and active shipping systems. To support our clients, we have made a significant investment to manufacture and supply Silverpod’s at strategic locations around the world from our sites in the UK, USA, India and Singapore. Everyone in our team is very proud to have won a second prestigious Queens Award that recognises our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence.”
Softbox USA is pleased to report that its business is going from strength to strength winning major new customers for its range of temperature control shipping systems.
John Hammes, Softbox USA General Manager, comments; “Though we’re still the younger sibling to our UK counterparts, the American’s are chasing hard to match their success. We’ve laid the foundation over the last 4 years and we’re now seeing growth in the marketplace as pharmaceuticals, logistics providers and speciality food companies all become regular users of our full array of products throughout the Americas. 2013 has seen a significant increase in demand for our products. To support this accelerated growth I’m pleased to announce that we’ve just signed a long term lease on a new 30,000 square foot manufacturing and warehouse site in Greer, South Carolina. Todd Meredith, our Operations Manager, is relocating from our office in Oregon to oversee the start up of the new site as well as manage the volume of output forecast for years to come. The new facility will mean the creation of 6 manufacturing jobs as well as a full time quality person to ensure that we continue to uphold the stringent requirements we’ve established globally. Beyond the new team at Greer, we’ve also brought in 2 new Account Managers and an Accounting Manager.
